Vintage Snowmobile Day
Written by Nate Sustad
Thursday, 04 March 2010

ImageA record-breaking 148 “vintage” riders registered their snowcats for the Seventh Annual Event with most of them making the effort to complete the 2-leg run from Stephen to Argyle, then from Argyle to Warren and back. Prior to the 40-mile run, all the snowcatters paraded down Stephen’s Main Street for the public to view. According to event organizer, Steve Weberg, about 90% of the sleds making the “Vintage Run” completed the round trip. Not bad for pre-1980s vintage sleds!

Cat O’ 9 Tales. . . or thereabouts
Written by Nate Sustad
Thursday, 04 March 2010
ImageIn an earlier tale of wayward whimsy, our readers became acquainted with the adventures of Harry the communal cat – affectionately referred to as That Darn Cat. The local attraction to this pretentious Puddy Tat has since expanded to the regional level. The article headlined That Darn Cat was circulated by email for many to enjoy, and as such, we felt it would be well to publish an update. When Harry’s not hitching a ride to points unknown, he busies himself circulating about the city availing himself of any opportunity to escape the elements. His sense of entitlement is right out of the progressive handbook. Harry’s preferred place to pose is on the postal counter where he can to be conspicuous — eye level is good for there’ll no ignoring him. Harry never received the memo on cat behavior — you know, the one that outlines methods of being aloof, independent and a solitary sole. Judging from his indifference to the No Pets Allowed sign, maybe he can’t read. We prefer to think he can, and just can’t believe that the policy applies to his furry self. Then again, he may be keeping the mail safe. Hmmm.
